Our Vision

"Learn to fly"

Did you know, every year, thousands of unique, colourful puffins return to Coquet Island to nest? Every year, baby pufflings take their first flight from this very island to brave the Atlantic ocean..that is why we are proud to wear the puffin on our jumper and use this magnificent bird as the symbol of our school.

We recently held a family competition to research and write a fitting mission statement to match our Puffin logo and the aims we have for all the children in our care. There were some fantastic entries and our year group winners were:

"Punctual puffins produce perfect pupils" Callum and Ruby
"Our colourful colony" Evan
"Grow, learn, fly high"Jude
"Together we can fly" Ella
"Like pufflings we stay in our burrow (Amble First School) until we fly"

We combined the best ideas from them all and decided “Learn to fly” - just like the baby Pufflings was the perfect statement. Our core values of Respect, Happiness and Growth are the key ingredients for our passport to fly and we use this mission to encourage the children to reach their full potential in all areas of their school life and to prepare them for life beyond Amble First.
