Year Two

Week beginning 11.1.21

The children seem to have made a great start to home learning. I know a few of you have found it tricky to get your child motivated. Don't forget this is always the case in school after Christmas! Don't give up. You are all doing great. I've added some lovely photos you've shared with me to the remote learning section of this website.

This week ask your children to focus on neat handwriting when they are doing any written work. Try to remind them which letters should be short and which ones are ascenders (tall).

A reminder that our home learning can be found here: http://www.amblefirst.northumberland.sch.uk/website/year_two/507335. This includes new spellings, learning log tasks and online learning. New MyMaths tasks have also been added to MyMaths.

If you could help you child to learn their times tables this week, that would be great (2s, 3s, 5s and 10s). Check out the videos on the remote learning section of this website for ideas for this.

If you would prefer paper based learning or need any support, please email Miss G-O on beth.gascoigne-owens@amblefirst.northumberland.sch.uk or ring me at school.

Keep going. You're all doing brilliantly.

Week beginning 4.1.21.

I completely understand that going back to home learning is a really tricky time for you all. I am always here to help if I can. Our home learning can be found here: http://www.amblefirst.northumberland.sch.uk/website/year_two/507335. This includes new spellings, new learning log tasks and online learning. New MyMaths tasks have also been added to MyMaths.

Anything I add to Google Classroom or the website, I will also email to you as I know sometimes accessing these can be a problem.

If you would prefer paper based learning or need any support, please email Miss G-O on beth.gascoigne-owens@amblefirst.northumberland.sch.uk or ring me at school.

I am thinking of all the children and hope to see them all very, very soon.

Week beginning 30.11.20

I can't believe it's already December! The children were very excited when an Elf on a Shelf visited the class this week. It's lovely to have the Christmas tree up and Chip, the elf, even decorated the classroom with lights!

On Tuesday we had a phonics morning and the children earned lots of rewards for doing brilliantly. I can't believe how much they've improved in their phonics understanding. This is really helping their reading, writing and spelling. We have started a new maths topic about money. The children are finding it a little bit tricky to understand why 1p and £1 is different so it would be great if they could look at this at home. We counted out 100p together so they could see that a whole pile of 100 pennies was the same as £1. They are working really hard on this. Well done boys and girls. I'll add some MyMaths homework to support this too.

Have a lovely week.

Miss G-O.
